Waterlox Wood Finish

Waterlox Original High Gloss Finish

Product Details

Our oldest and truly “original” product, since 1910.

Like all of our Tung Oil formulas, 90% of the resin portion of the formula is from renewable, natural resources.

When used in conjunction with a Waterlox® sealer, our Waterlox® ORIGINAL formula penetrates deep into wood fibers to create a waterproof barrier while forming a protective yet elastic film that is durable against common household use and foot traffic.

Easier to maintain than other interior clear or surface finishes.

Non-toxic when dry and fully cured.

Handcrafted in small batches in Cleveland, Ohio by a 4th generation, family-owned company.

Available in gloss, semi-gloss and satin sheens.

Available in gallon, quart and 2 ounce sizes.

Waterlox ORIGINAL Sealer & Semi-Gloss Finish – formerly known as Waterlox Transparent, and Waterlox Original Sealer/Finish. Waterlox ORIGINAL High Gloss Finish – formerly known as Waterlox Gym finish.

General Considerations

Test product: Products will alter the appearance of the wood; complete proper testing of the entire process before beginning.

Application location: Select a well-lit area to complete your finishing project (preferably with good ventilation) and away from other projects, persons or animals. Do not work in strong, direct sunlight.

Temperature and humidity: Products, ambient temperature and wood surface should be above 50⁰ F for the entire recommended drying time. It should be dry and warm. Do not work beneath heating or air conditioning vents.

Drying and curing times:
  • Allow at least 1 day per coat for proper drying
  • Full cure will be 7 days after the final coat (see our Care After Final Coat guide for day by day recommendations)
Ventilation:
  • Be sure to ventilate properly and keep all unnecessary persons or animals away during application
  • In general, the solvent vapors will be mostly evaporated in 2-4 hours after application
  • After the solvent has evaporated, the product needs good air flow, specifically oxygen, to dry hard (see our Ventilation guide for more information)

Need Help Figuring out how much you need ?

One Board foot = 144 Cubic Inches

Example: If you need a piece of wood 12 inches wide, 1 inch thick and 24 inches long, that is equal to 2 board feet.

12 inches x 1 inch x 24 inches = 288 inches. 288/ 144 = 2 board feet
